  Fahrenheit/911 review

We just got back from seeing Michael Moore's new documentary, Fahrenheit/911. We went out to the burbs to see it because we figured it was a given that it would be sold out at our local art house theatre. Well, the 7:40 showing in the suburbs, in their big theatre was also sold out. We had purchased our tickets in advance, and we got there 40 minutes early, so we had our pick of seats.

You've probably read lots of reviews already. It's very well done. I wish I hadn't read so much about it before I saw it, because nothing I saw was a surprise or very shocking to me. Margaret asked me what part of the movie was the most discusting or infuriating and I said it was every single time they showed Bush. I'm more dedicated than ever to doing everything I can do between now and November to make sure that he's out of our lives come January. And I will have such a party the day after the election.

Anyway, go see it and take your undecided friends along.

The trailer for fahrenheit/911 was posted on the web yesterday. Today, demand for it was so great they took it down--which is a dumb way to run a website. I was able to watch it yesterday, and I'm very excited that this movies is now going to be in theaters on JUNE 25!

Strange to be excited about a movie that's likely to really upset me (like Bowling for Columbine did). But, what I'm excited about is that this movie could really make a differnce in the american perception of W.

The trailer contains mostly information and scenes that I had previously seen or knew, but a lot of this is going to come as a shock to a lot of people. I hope those people see it. The trailer ends with W on a golf course, where he says something serious and "heartfelt" about defeating these cold-blooded terrorist killers. I think this was in response to some horrible event or another in Iraq. With barely a pause, he finishes with "Now watch this drive" and goes back to golfing. Everything that comes before in the trailer (bin ladens being whisked out of the country, senators admiting ignorance of the patriot act, businessmen talking about exploiting iraq, etc) is very bad. But, then to see bush basically make a joke out of it all is really disturbing.
