There is a LOT of speculation going around that Bush is going to find a way to avoid showing up for the third debate tomorrow (or tonight, depending on when you read this).

The reasons for believing this are sound (everyone expects Bush to do poorly on domestic issues, why would Karl Rove agree to a third debate if they actually planned to have Bush show up?), and the setup has begun...check it out (copied from the drudge report):

"WASH TIMES: U.S. security officials are investigating a recent intelligence report that a group of 25 Chechen terrorists illegally entered the United States from Mexico over summer... Members of the group, said to be wearing backpacks, secretly traveled to northern Mexico and crossed into a mountainous part of Arizona, Gertz to report in Page One Splash, newsroom sources tell DRUDGE..."

Note that:

1. this is old news ("over summer") posing as news
2. this popped up the night before the debate
3. the debate, and the supposed terrorists are in Arizona!

Bush is a no show. "Gotta do hard President work to defeat terrarists". We'll know in a few hours. What do you think?
Comments:
He shows. At this point being a no-show would give Kerry all the momentum he needs. Unless,

1. There is an honest-to-God terrorist attack or
2. Osama Bin Laden show up in Disney World, uh, I mean, Afghanistan.

Bush's entire strategy for the debate will be to pin Kerry down as a "tax and spend liberal." I think people are beginning to clue in to the fact that Bush is a "spend and spend" conservative.

Look for Iraq to make multiple appearances in a debate supposedly centered on "domestic" policy.
