The Onion
Back in 2001, The Onion printed an article called "Bush: Our Long National Nightmare of Peace and Prosperity is Finally Over." A few years ago, I started noticing that The Onion's parodies were becoming believable.
In this parse of The Onion's story from January 18, 2001, Dan Chak shows just how believeable.
Just one example to whet your appetite: A picture caption from the story reads "Soldiers at Ft. Bragg march lockstep in preparation for America's return to aggression." (Keep in mind, this story was written on January 18, 2001, two days before GWB took power).
Chak's extensive linking of the original site shows just how much of The Onion's parody, wasn't.
