Political Motel
Monday, March 29, 2004
We'd like to welcome our first guest editor at Motel's new politics page, John L. John has serious political credentials, which we'll let him tell you about if he so chooses. More importantly, John is a hellofaguy, and we're proud to have him on board with our "kick George Bush's Ass in '04" project.

A couple notes and thoughts:

We have no control over those advertisements over there ---->

Google adwords looks at the content of your site and decides which ads to run based on keywords.

I think it's really funny, though, that people are paying money to advertise George Bush Merchandise and their ads are showing up on our site because we're talking about whipping George Bush's behind or whatever. ha ha ha.

Also, I've been thinking about what the tone of this page should be, and I think that what struck me while looking at other similar websites is that people often play it safe with the words they use...I think this is because the freaky right-wing has mastered the art of giving negative connotations to perfectly good words and so we're all afraid to say "taxes are a good thing" or "I'm liberal" or "I'm educated" or "I've been to other countries".

Although the main purpose of this page is to inform you about positive things that you can do towards the goal of taking back the country, we won't hesitate to say what we're really thinking or to use whatever words are most appropriate -- regardless of the Fox News dictionary. Part of taking our country back is taking our language back.
