The Opa! Opa! Report

We got a hot tip (from the folks at Bearded Lady Buttons) yesterday that the new East Sacramento eatery Opa! Opa! is giving out free food weekdays 11:30-2:30, until their opening on Wednesday 3/15. So we went by yesterday to check it out. We were, indeed, given free food, which was quite good. We got a hummus appetizer, salad sampler (orzo, taboulei and cucumber/tomato salad), roasted veggies, a falafel and a gyro. The food is super. It's more of a lunch place than I had expected, kind of like Jack's Urban Eats -- although I would definitely go by there for a casual dinner. Sadly, I'm not sure there is any flaming cheese (saganaki) despite the name of the restaurant. Only time will tell.

P.S. The falafel made us think of Ben.

Falafel makes me think of me, too.

Free food? You guys are totally bums. There's this other place that gives out free food over on North B Street. It must be pretty good, because there's always a crowd. Thought you'd like to know. ;-P

And falafel makes me think of Bill O'Reilly (no offense, Ben).

Well, Carl, you have the misfortune of not knowing Ben -- and also the misfortune of being far too familiar with Bill O'Reilly.
